Led by gains in energy-related issues, the Tokyo stocks advanced a little on Monday morning. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average increased 21.38 points, or 0.13%, in the morning to 16,123.29. The Tokyo Stock Price Index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange reached 2.48 points, or 0.15%, to 1,650.22. Energy-related issues were main winners. Insurance, steel and fishery-related issues also progressed. Meantime, marine, real estate and air transport issues faced selling. Progressing issues outpaced declining ones 948 to 622, containing 97 shares ending the morning unchanged. Nippon Steel was the most massively traded issue, up 13 yen to 455 yen. Trading volume on the TSE's principal section came to 1,112.25 million shares. The TSE's Second Section index increases 17.13 points, or 0.34%, to 4,985.12 on a volume of 71.12 million shares. The near-term March Nikkei 225 index was rose 30 points to 16,120 in Osaka.
