On Tuesday February 7, 2006 Tokyo stocks ended mixed in directionless trading, with investors buying select shares backed by positive corporate earnings, but the overall market was top-heavy on a lack of fresh market-moving news. 26.77 points or 0.16 percent to 16,720.99 lost the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average. And however the Tokyo Stock Price Index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 1.17 points, or 0.07 percent, to 1,713.47. During the day the major indexes moved in and out of negative territory in a narrow range. On the TSE's main section trading volume came to 2,350.78 million shares against Monday's February 6, 2006 2,065.95 million. While the TSE's Second Section index rose 56.54 points, or 1.06 percent, to 5,413.25 on a volume of 195.45 million shares.
